How does Segment Ninja Work?

We append data to every buyer or subscriber that has given you consent to market to them (email, SMS or both).   We do this just once.

We use the best consumer segmentation and data modeling systems in North America, as well as deterministic data from thousands of datasets. Proprietary algorithms search, rank and score tens of thousands of data variables in real-time.  We aggregate this data to help you understand your customers and prospects better and market to them more effectively.

How do I use it?

After we append data, you can create brand new segments (i.e. households with children, high Income households, urban renters, etc.).  You can also add any of the new dimensions to any of your existing segments or brand-new Flows.  Super powerful.

What shopping carts do you integrate with?

Another good question.  We’re currently working on a Shopify app/integration.  However, we are platform-agnostic.  All you need is your Klaviyo Private API Key and we do the rest.  Select which lists and segments you’d like to append to and in a few minutes, you’ll be segmenting in new and powerful ways like never before.

Isn't this a little creepy?

Not at all, but it’s a good and important question.  All our data is de-indentified, anonymized and aggregated.  Not one piece of information is personally identifiable.  We use predictive modelling (the same used by the Fortune 500) to identify ‘high-indexing’ attributes and behaviors.  For example Jane Doe’s profile might indicate household’s like Jane’s are 4 times more likely to have children at home. So Jane and all your customers like Jane that have children at home can be a new segment.   You can segment even further, by adding an age filter and whittle down the list to households with children at home where age is 25-45.  And now you have a Young Families segment.  Think through what you want to know about your customers.  Depending on your retail category some variables might be more important than others.  For example if you sell luxury travel, Income, Net Worth and age will be important.

Is your data privacy compliant?

Absolutely, yes!  Some data are de-identified and anonymized. Some are aggregated and modelled. Other data are self-reported with consent-to-use. All consumers have the opportunity to expunge their data with our data partners directly at any time they wish.

We are continuously vetting new data sources to deliver even more powerful insights and value to your decisioning.   As we bring on new data suppliers, we will notify our customers accordingly.

Consumer privacy and protection legislation continues to evolve and we continuously monitor changes that may or may not affect the services we provide.  If they do, we will notify all our customers in jurisdictions affected.

What Data and Insights are available?

Terabytes and terabytes of data.  We help you profile and find more of your best customers by lifestyles, shopping behaviors and media usage with intelligent insights on what they choose and why they buy. Predictive algorithms let you create segments based on consumer behaviors, shopping patterns, media preferences, technology habits and other household characteristics.  We’re currently working on aggregating self-reported data on everything from brand preferences, hobbies, interests, online purchases, charitable giving and more.

What does Segment Ninja cost?

All pricing is CPM (Cost per thousand) based with discounts on volume appends.  There are two price components.

  1. Batch appends.  Whether you have 1,000 or 100,000 customers, we need to do an initial bulk data append so you can segment existing lists, segments and flows.  This is a one-time fee. After a batch append you’ll be able to create new segments with current customers too.  That’s super powerful.
  2. Ongoing appends.  As customers buy and opt-in to your marketing we automatically append data in near-realtime.  There is a per append fee in this case based on anticipated monthly volume.  Again, this is a one-time append fee per customer.

Segmentation & Relevance - Why does it matter?

Well, you shouldn’t carpet bomb everyone with the same offer or message.  Klaviyo says it best:  “There are a million ways to segment and personalize so you don’t overwhelm the inbox.” In other words, don’t send the same content to everyone.   The more relevant and personalized, the higher the open, CTR, engagement and conversion rates.  When you send more personalized content, your customer feels that you know them better.  They become more loyal and spend more long term.
